A gorgeous coming of age story with lots of amazingly idiosyncratic details I love this story. Kevin Allison is such a wacky personality, and it's wonderful to hear about his particular brand of silliness and ridiculous humor as a little kid growing up in Ohio in the 70s and 80s. Although all of us have different ridiculous things that made us laugh with our best friends as children, it's a joy to hear about other people's nonsensical inside jokes, because they're all equally silly. This story is also super relatable to anyone who's ever worried that showing their true self to people they care about might cause them to lose important relationships. It's a touching, moving and beautifully told story. Bravo Kevin!Touching story This is an extremely touching story about a young man's experience coming out, not only to his best friend, but also to himself.Filled with quirky humor and palpable emotion, this short story is a must read for those dealing with our homophobic society and learning to embrace their sexual identity.Quick read as the author discovers who he really is... I have to say that's extremely young to be so self-aware and so prominent of memories of that nature at that age...not saying that orientation would happen that young for absolutely I believe that it does, but the recollection of it, the awareness of what it is, and the need to act on it at such an age and for the time period...wow, I must truly have been a naive 6-year-old....and 7, 8, 9, and 10 as well...innocence is a very important part of childhood and children grow up too fast in today's world, it seems so odd for the 1970s and 80s to be that acutely aware...even with older kids sharing things....where were these kids parents to protect then from this *knowledge*?
