KANE Glenn Jacobs has been outspoken more than the Undertaker over the years but as far as his origins prior to pro wrestling and getting involved in the business and in politics is a story that really hasn’t been on full display until now and in Glenn’s own words. This book to me represents a great inspirational story for anyone which is it’s okay to dream and not stop dreaming, anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Mortality is not forever and it’s important to make sure the impact we leave behind impacts our peers and generations to come. That’s what Glenn Jacobs does with his life as he felt the yearning and need to want to give back to his community in the best way possible and he’s making such an impressionable mark so far in his political career.I will admit that I was a bit Leary about the political aspects portion of this book as I was concerned if Glenn’s political beliefs were going to be a gospel hammered down to readers again and again but it is not like that at all. You really come away understanding his ideology, him as a human being and on such a personal level that politics be put to the side. He comes off so impressionable that you just want to get into conversation with him about what’s going on in this world and trying to find peaceful solutions while working together. There is so much division right now in our country and at one piece at a time Glenn is doing his part as Mayor in trying to work with people on all sides to get things done.Whether you’re a hardcore wrestling fan or a political junkie, there’s something for everyone in this book that you’ll love but overall you’ll come away having even more admiration for KANE Glenn Jacobs. Boy Did I Learn a LOT Reading this Awesome Book! I'm a huge auto racing fan. I'll get that out right away. However, it takes an excellent and accomplished writer to be able to bring excitement to the reader, while at the same time, relating non-fiction that is both relevant and factual. A.J. Baime has done just that! Awesome to learn so much about both Enzo Ferrari and Henry Ford II in the same book. My gosh, John Surtees, John Miles, and Carroll Shelby are all new heroes of mine!! Get this straight, if you like sports cars, intrigue and action, and exciting reading that relates historical fact in a very readable fashion, you'll love this book!Go Like Hell is a Wild Ride! I loved this book! My only wish was that it were longer. I hated to see it end. As a teen I followed every Sebring, Daytona and Le Mans race that the author recounts. I lived and breathed car racing in that era, especially the Ford versus Ferrari rivalry. I was also living in Rome, Italy at the time, and the Le Mans race was broadcast on the radio. My friends and I actually listened as the Fords finally won.To this day the GT 40 is my favorite racing car of all time. This book was written just for me and I read it in one sitting. What a great story, and what great research has gone into this book. As others have pointed out the Ford Mark IV end story is short and the book coverage of the next two Le Mans victories is also short -- as they were by older Ford GT 40s and not the Mark IV. But that's small stuff. Go like Hell is a wild ride!Why aren't there ten stars? For people addicted to the car disease this is one super book. I thought I was pretty tuned in back when Hank Deuce decided to go for Ferrari's jugular. But this book revealed all kinds of stuff I missed-- big and little. Big stuff, like the fact that Enzo Ferrari had an illegitimate son. Little stuff like Bruce McClaren having one leg shorter than the other. Also a detailed description of Carroll Shelby's Cobra and Mustang GT350 operation at Los Angeles airport. And a lot of new info on Ken Miles-- one of my heroes because of his MG Specials. And so much more. I worked for an ad agency on Wilshire Blvd. in L.A. in the mid-'60s and would drive my MG TC home to Redondo Beach on Pacific Coast Highway every night for two reasons: 1. To hear the car's neat exhaust sound in the tunnel under LAX's runway. 2. To drive past the parking lot for Shelby's operation to see row after row of finished Cobras and GT350s. And I would covet them! Big time! Please don't tell God. Weekends were spent at Riverside, Goleta, Laguna Seca and other tracks watching names in this book race. I didn't give Mr. Baime's book Arsenal of Democracy" a very good review because, unlike this Ford/Ferrari book, I didn't really learn anything new. Maybe that's because I've read a lot about Ford in the last 60 years. But Go Like Hell is really one helluva book so go like hell to order it.

My Saving Grace from Toxic Shame Growing up in a household where obedience is won through criticism, belittling and shaming, it's little wonder I reached adult hood in a poor state of mind and body. With no self-esteem or confidence and full of toxic shame, I wasn't happy with myself in any shape or form. I truly disliked myself, and felt as if everyone else did too. I was a HUGE perfectionist, and very, very hard on myself.Though I am still a work in progress (I'm 22 currently), I can look back and see how far I've come, and it is all thanks to Brene Brown: her books, her Ted talks, her program, etc. This is my favorite book of hers, though.If you don't feel worthy of love and belonging, if you feel lesser than everyone else; if you can't forgive yourself for your mistakes or your terrible moments or the stupid things you've done in life; if you can't accept your humanness; if you can't show your face or eyes to others due to shame; if you can't own up to your mistakes for fear of judgement; if you compare yourself to others; if you constantly strive to prove yourself to others but feel as if you never measure up; then this book is for you.I have read it through and then listened to the whole book about 3 times. I need to be reminded again and again what it means to Dare Greatly, as I have lived most of my life hiding and trying to protect myself. Every time I hear the words in this book, I can't help but say "Yes! Yes! Yes!" over and over again. It all makes such simple sense. I also cannot hear Brene's words - in book or talks - without crying, because they are some of the most beautiful words to my ears there ever was.We are not in this alone, and our worth is not something that can be measured.I am planning to get some of her books this Christmas for my family, who all badly need to hear her message and don't bother to look her up despite my urging. I will also have all her books on my shelf someday when I have kids, for them to all read as they are growing up, so that they don't grow up in fear, with low self-worth and full of shame, and to also give them the courage to dare greatly. (Of course I will parent differently than I was raised, and that will make a difference. ;) )I would give this book a 10 star rating if I could.Some people flip houses. This book will flip your life. Last week I was sitting outside a coffee shop reading a book on my kindle when a youngish guy walked by carrying a coffee and a computer, looking for a place to sit.Since all of the tables were occupied and he was looking a bit displaced, I offered him a seat at my table. Relieved, he sat down and expressed his gratitude. I promptly went back to my reading but I could feel his eyes boring into me as I anticipated the dreaded question."What are you reading?" he finally blurted.Now I know this is neither a profound nor earth-shattering inquiry but there were two problems at hand here.One, I'm terrible at summarizing books. Just awful. (Which you're about to discover.) There's just something about the vast amount of information that I'm pressured to wrap into one or two sentences that completely overwhelms and paralyzes me.And two, I was reading a book about shame and vulnerability. Which ironically, I was ashamed to admit for fear of being vulnerable. Clearly, I had just started reading the book.Part of me was tempted to lie to youngish guy by replying, "oh, it's just some silly novel."But then it occurred to me how shameful it would be to lie about reading a book about shame and vulnerability instead of just being vulnerable. It's about shame and vulnerability and how shame can truly only dissipate by allowing yourself to be vulnerable", I quickly blurted.Allowing myself to be vulnerable led Patrick and I into a conversation for the next hour.
